Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @https://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com. Our love of lists inspires this weekly meme, and brings the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a prompt, and we readers will post our list based on that prompt. We also have the option of doing our own thing if we don’t have an idea for the topic that week. This week, our topic is 2024 Bookish Goals. I’m very excited to talk about my goals for this year and see what others plan to do as well.
1- Read 125 books
I set my reading goal at 125 this year. I’m trying to read less, and enjoy books more, and so far, it’s working. I’ve found myself enjoying books more this year, and I’ve left time for other things. Yes, reading is a big part of my life, but it was getting to a time last year when it became my whole life, and so I needed to scale back a bit.
2- Read more Diversely
I’ve been doing an okay job at reading diversity. I want to add more reads from BIPOC Authors, more LGTBTQIA+ reads, more reads from disabled writers, and more reads from Jewish authors this year to support the authors and marginalized communities.
3- Complete some reading challenges
I always say I’ll do the pop sugar, book riot, and other challenges of the like. I never do a good job of tracking my reads for them, so at the end of the year, I end up just throwing any books I read that fit the prompts on the list. I want to focus on completing more of Pop Sugar, Read Harder, Disney Flim Challenge, Disney Song Challenge, Bookiemon, Kat’s Meet Me At The Movies, Musicals, and a West End Theater Challenge.
4- Reread more
I’m doing a few challenges this year where I’m reading a series. I have some series I love that I want to reread some of my favorite books this year.
5- Be More Active with Blogging
Life can really get in the way of blogging. This year, I want to see if I can prep posts ahead of time, so I can jut post them the day of, as opposed to writing them the day I post because I ran out of time. This also goes with reading less, I will have more time to focus on blogging content.
6- Read More Middle-Grade
I have so many backlist Middle-Grade titles I want to read this year. I also want to read new Middle-Grade books and review new Middle-Grade books coming out. I’ve wanted to read more MG for a few years now, and this year I’m going to actively try to read more MG.
7- Be More Active on Bookstagram
I’ll be helping with a Discord server’s Instagram this year, but I want to meet people and see the books they read on that platform this year. It’s been going well so far, I just hope I can keep the flow.
8- Buddy Read More
I love reading books with friends and discussing themes, tropes, characters, and plot elements with friends. This year, I want to read more books with friends on Discord, and I want to see about joining booktube bookclubs this year.
9- Support Indie
I’m going to try and support Indie bookstores this year. I got a few books from Indie’s last year, and I want to do my part in keeping Indie Bookstores alive.
10- Track more Stats for the End of the Year
This year, I found a few sheets that give me more areas to track. I think it will be fun to track rep, tropes, keywords/themes, and spice in each book I read and include those in my end-of-the-year stats. I want to do awards this year as opposed to just stating my top 20 books.
Good luck with your reading challenges!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

I love doing buddy reads!
I also am trying to read more diversely. I’ve done really well adding in BIPOC authors/characters and stuff but I definitely need to increase LGBTQIA+ and disability rep.

I love the idea of reading less to increase your enjoyment of each book. I think we can sometimes get caught up on the amount of books read and we forget to just appreciate each book. Good luck with all of your goals this year!
